A few weeks ago we FINALLY got a new fridge!  (That is a whole other post — that will likely never happen, so don’t hold your breath.)

We paid for it completely with the money I’ve saved over the last few months by using coupons.  Seriously, I was able to save enough to buy a fridge!  Not the fanciest one, mind you, but I’m very happy with it.

So for about the last 3 weeks I have done ZERO coupon shopping.  You’d think the exciting purchase of the fridge would only encourage me to step it up even more.  But there have been other factors at play, and I just haven’t been able to bring myself to do it.  Today I think I have found some motivation.

After watching the ridiculous run of tornados that swept through the state today, and seeing footage of houses that had been swept COMPLETELY off of the foundations, with the homeowners emerging from their underground shelters, I’ve decided I want one.  An underground shelter, that is.

So that’s my next goal.  Of course this year it wouldn’t get done, even barring the financial aspects.  So we have to survive this tornado season, and then the hubs and I will have to decide which company to hire to put in a shelter.  (Any thoughts on that, by the way?)  AND of course, in the meantime, I have some motivation to keep saving!

Yesterday on our way to the garden center the boys were thrilled when we were stopped by a train.  (I really don’t mind trains like I used to, because the kids have so much fun watching a train pass.)  We were  even fortunate enough to be only 3 cars back from the tracks!  When the guard rails lifted and we were driving over the tracks the train wasn’t really that far down the tracks yet.

Caleb shouted out, “Hey!  I saw the last box cars on the train!”  <BIG contented little boy sigh>  ”Life is good.”
