I detest the idiots and slime who send spam to my blog comments section!  I just "marked as spam" 3591 "comments!"  I had to mark all as spam and just get rid of everything, even though I know there was at least one comment I wanted to keep.  But every time I tried to approve the one and get rid of everything else the computer locked up on me!  So I’m writing this to say to "mandermoo" and anyone else legit  whose comment got deleted:  I’m sorry — try again.  Maybe after this I’ll remember to keep up on moderating my comments more frequently!

By the way, if I’ve "approved" you once, you can always comment after that.  At least that’s how my brother explained it.

“Silly Word”
Friday July 18th 2008, 10:19 pm

We’ve recently had to explain the concept of saying God’s name in vain and how God said not to do it, etc.  (Ethan was saying it one day, I’m guessing cuz he’d seen it on TV.  After getting over the shock of hearing my baby say, "Oh my G.." we had a very kind but very serious chat.)

SO!  This has made TV watching quite difficult and interesting, since they will say that phrase even in commercials.  If he hears it he gets at the very least saddened.  At the most extreme I’d say he gets agitated.  He also expects the channel to be changed, or the TV to go off.  He will even turn the TV off if he has access to the power button.  Which I find quite impressive because there are times he’s really into a show.  But he’ll hear the phrase, comment on it, and jump up to hit the power button.

Anyway, the real reason for this post is to tell what he calls "taking the Lord’s name in vain."   I love this…. he’ll say, "Oh no, dey say dat silly word in Dod."

Caleb

A note on Caleb.  He is 7 1/2 months old.  He LOVES his people.  He crawls everywhere, stands up, cruises a little, and HATES to be blocked from places he wants to go.  He and Ethan typically play well together, except when Ethan forgets that the baby is NOT indestructable and plays a bit too rough.  It also doesn’t go well when Ethan simply doesn’t pay attention (as 3 yr. olds don’t) and Caleb gets knocked down.  But Ethan usually feels bad if "Baby" gets hurt, and he’ll come running to me to explain the screaming and crying.

There’ve been some interesting times getting Caleb to eat solids, what with ear infections and drugs that make him puke and other illness, and possibly a somewhat contrary spirit.  But we’re slowly getting there.

One of the best things in the world is to hear the boys on the monitor after they both wake from a nap.  Ethan will talk and play and sing to Caleb.  Caleb will squeal and giggle in delight.  I love it.  I also love walking into the room and seeing Caleb absolutely BEAM at me.  His smile couldn’t possibly get bigger.  Then of course, what a fabulous thing for Tim to come home and have Ethan shout, "DADDY!" while Caleb bestows that beautiful smile on Tim and reaches for Daddy.

We’re always tired and feel run ragged, but we really are quite blessed.
