Happee Bur-dee!

Well, that’s how Ethan would say it.  But from me: Happy 100th Birthday, OKLAHOMA!!!

This is not my native state, but it is kind of neat to be living here and have Oklahoma as my adopted home during the Centennial celebration.  OK turned 100 this morning at 9:16.  I, of course, was hoping for another birth today…. but, alas!    Well, it IS only 3:45pm… there’s still time.  But I’m not holding my breath.

Sorry, Aunt Lola Jean!  I know you were really hoping for a Centennial Celebration Great-Niece/ Nephew!   Shall we go for Thanksgiving?emoticon

Other Side of the Coin

Even though there’s a long list of things I WON’T miss about pregnancy, there are a few things I actually WILL miss.

~kicks & wiggles & hiccups felt from the INSIDE — that’s pretty neat.

~loading only one kid into the car

~ability to have a daily nap while Ethan sleeps — at least until the baby’s on some kind of schedule

~wondering if it’s a boy or girl.  I know this is also on the other list.

~dealing with only one kid at the grocery store — or ANY store

~not worrying too much about weight

~the ease of carrying/ feeding/ "diapering"/ etc. a child in the womb — no matter how uncomfy I am now, I do recognize that it’s easier now than it’s about to be!

~multiple nightly bathroom visits.  I’ll miss this because I’ll be trading for multiple nightly feedings, which take more time and energy and brain power.

~only having one kid to dress and feed on Sunday mornings (not that Tim doesn’t help, but it’s still more work)

BUT WHAT I MAY MISS MOST IS…

~Ethan hugging & patting my belly while crooning in his sweetest voice, "Baaay-beee… tum on Baby, tum on!"

Things I WON’T Miss…

about being pregnant.  As much of a true blessing as it is (and BELIEVE ME! I have no doubts about it being a blessing!) pregnancy is a hassle in many ways.  It is the Ultimate Total Body Experience!  So even though I am now only 1 day over my due date, there are some things that I will NOT miss about pregnancy.  I am MORE than ready for this one to be completed!     These are in no particular order.

~round ligament pain

~ wondering what the baby looks like

~S-I Joint (lower back) pain

~how very hard it is to go up the stairs (esp. when I’m chasing a 3 yr. old who’s running from punishment!)

~stressing over the possibility of being induced

~gagging when I brush my teeth (yes, it’s not always confined to the first trimester)

~pelvic bone pain

~difficulty tying shoes/ putting on socks — or pants, for that matter!/ picking up things from the floor

~constant tiredness — Oh, WAIT!! I’m actually going to miss how very  "rested" I feel now, compared to what I’ll feel later!

~wondering if it’s a boy or a girl

~"arguing" with Tim about NOT using the name Winston — even as a middle name — if it’s a boy

~stupid maternity pants that have no pockets, an inadequate belly panel, or both; and shirts that are ridiculously low-cut.  Who designs this stuff!?  Brittney Spears!?  No one with a brain, I’ll tell you that!  Of course, soon I’ll get to trade for nursing bras, silly nursing clothes, and FAT clothes.  At least when you’re pregnant you’re SUPPOSED to "look like that."   Ah well, it’s worth it!

~a bladder that’s frequently used as a trampoline

~other random pains that seem to come out of nowhere

~having to sit so far back from the steering wheel that I almost can’t reach the pedals

AND THE LAST THING I CAN THINK OF…..

~Ethan patting my rear and saying, "OOO! BIIIIG Boooody!!!"  (Actually, that’s unlikely to end anytime soon.)  And in case anyone is thinking badly of my husband right now — NO, Ethan did NOT learn that from his father!  Came up with that gem entirely on his own — the little dear!
