Pigg Times
The Life and Happenings of 4 Little Piggs

Prayers
Monday May 07th 2007, 9:01 pm

I’ve just come downstairs from putting Ethan to bed.  Lately he’s been wanting to say his own bedtime prayers; and they are pretty cute.  Typically it’s a general take-off of what Tim or I usually do.  Many times he’ll get stuck in a loop and say something like, "Day-doo (thank you) Mauna Pigg, Papa Pigg, Mauna Pigg, Papa Pigg….."  until I remind him of something else to say.  In general though, they are very sweet little prayers and he does fairly well with them.

Tonight was kind of funny though because he’s very tired and being a bit goofy.  When I asked if he wanted to say the prayer or if I should do it I got no answer.  So I said, "Okay, I’ll do it," and started.  About half way through he sat up to interrupt and said, "Day-doo Rajiv elephant puddle (puzzle) Daddy dreen car."  So we thanked God for the neat elephant puzzle that one of Tim’s co-workers brought back from India for Ethan.  (Tim had to get it out of the green car.)  Then I finished the prayer.

I don’t know if it was a stalling tactic, or if he really had decided he wanted to pray; but after my prayer he said, "Ethan pway."    Me: "Okay."    So after a few false starts he prayed unlike I’ve ever heard before.  It went like this:

         "Dear Dod,
Day-doo day. (Thank you for today.)  Day-doo Mommy, Daddy, Ethan.  Day-doo all fends, famee. (friends and family)  (pause….pause….pause…)    Deedus said, Follow me, make oo fissers men. In Maffew 4:19      Dod said, Not ‘faid, I a wiss oo.  Isaiah 41:10      Hear dis, Israel, Word our Dod is ONE Dod.  In Deut’romy 6:4     (pause)   Day-doo all fends, famee.  Day-doo Deedus, Bible.  Deedus name, AMEN!"

I just thought it was very precious.  It’s also interesting to see how they put all kinds of things together.
