Birdie Update
Thursday February 15th 2007, 9:22 am

It snowed again yesterday and last night.  Very beautiful sparkly flakes — almost looks fake.  Very light and easily blown around.  Anyway, there wasn’t a lot of it, but enough to cover the seeds I had out for the birds.  Ethan saw the birds hopping around making cute little tracks in the snow this morning, but not finding much to eat.  He said, "Mama, birdie.  Need seed.  Mun (more) seed need.  Frow."

"Oh, do I need to throw out more seed for the birds?  Okay."  So I did.  He giggled everytime the seed hit the ground and gently sunk into the snow.  When I finished and shut the door he said in a very sing-songy voice, "Birdie! Pum! (come) Eat a seed!"

He is just SO FUN to watch!

Negotiations & Love Songs
Thursday February 15th 2007, 9:14 am

Yesterday (Valentine’s Day) Ethan was not eating his broccoli.  This is a veggie he LOVES, he just couldn’t be bothered yesterday.  Too busy.  Plus, he wanted pumpkin bread.

So I said, "Just eat 5 bites of broccoli and you can have pumpkin bread."

Imagine my surprise when he attempted a negotiation: "No, TWO!"

"No, five…. well, just eat four and that will be okay."

    "No, FIVE!"

    "Um, okay."emoticon

Also, I’ve been meaning to write that we have hit upon a song that we LOVE singing together.  He frequently asks me to sing "Ernie Moon."  It’s from Sesame Street ("Dee-dee Dreet" to him).  The title is "I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon."  Fabulous song!  Go to YouTube and put the title in the search engine, since I don’t know how to put links on the blog.  (Boy, there’s a lot I can’t do on a computer!)  Anyway, you can see Ernie sing it.  All 3 of us absolutely have fallen in love with this very sweet and actually rather deep song.

Answer to Quiz

Well, other than the 3 that were SUPPOSED to be in there, the answer for this two yr-old is apparently EIGHTEEN!!!!   A total of 21 CD’s in a 3-disk machine!  I used needlenose pliers and gravity to extract most.  But for the last 2 I had to partially remove the top of the machine. emoticon  Unbelievable.  emoticon

He does have eclectic tastes, though.  I removed: Billy Joel’s Greatest Hits, disks 1&2; The Very Best of John Denver, #1&2; John Denver and the Muppets, A Christmas Together; Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire on CD, disks 1-6; CCR; Sissel; 16 Most Requested Xmas Songs; Indigo Girls; Harry Connick,Jr; Les Miserables, #1&2; This Little Piggy & Other Favorites; Paul Simon;and Shania Twain.  Whew!

I’m not likely to forget to lock that cabinet very soon!

Math for Moms
Tuesday February 13th 2007, 2:26 pm

Okay, quick math quiz.  Given a 3-disk CD changer (in the style of a record turntable that slides out like a drawer) and 15 minutes unsupervised while Mommy is doing on-line banking, how many CD’s can a two year-old stuff into said CD changer?  This is stuff you, or someone you love, may need to know.

Answer to come as soon as I get them all out.

In the meantime, I’m taking guesses.
